Awards

The NAC10 Posterprize and the Vening Meinesz Award will be given during the plenary closing session of NAC10 on April 23rd, 2010 (16.15-17.00).

Posterprize

The NAC attracts about 300 scientists within the field of Geosciences. Most presentations will be in posterform. The top-three posters will be awarded with 250 € (first place), 150 € (second place) and 100 € (third place). The selection will be performed by the posterjury, formed by the chairman of the program committee and a member of the program committee and one of the organizing committee. The posterjury will use the following criteria for assessment:

  1. Lay Out – is your attention drawn or not?
  2. Accessibility – Is the explanation of the research readable for outsiders?
  3. Content – How much is explained in how few words, and does the text encourage to read on?
  4. Composition – Is there a clear build up of arguments/explanations

For winning the posterprize, it is required that the first author is present at the plenary closing session.

Vening Meinesz Award

NWO/ALW hopes to be able to honor an eminent though young earth scientist for his scientific work with the Vening Meinesz Award. This award of 10.000 € comes from the benefits of the donation of professor dr.ir. Vening Meinesz in 1962 to NWO. From 1965 onward, this award has been given to dr. R.D. Schuiling, dr.J.D.A. Zijderveld, dr. G.B. Engelen, dr. J.A. Schouten, dr.ir. N. van Breemen, dr. A.M.H. Nolet, dr. R.K. Schnieder, dr. F. Marin, dr. W.Krijgsman, dr. W. van Westrenen and dr. G. van der Werf.
